01

Context

Lunar Agency is a marketing agency built on the philosophy of ‘Weirdly Better’, defined by an abandonment of normality in search of more unexpected, effective ways to do things.

02

Idea

With the launch of their drastically rebuilt brand strategy, they needed a website to coincide with their launch campaign, ’The Cost of Dull’ - addressing the massive financial waste caused by emotionally flat marketing. This campaign, paired with their ‘Weirdly Better’ mantra, meant a standard website couldn’t work. It needed to look, feel, and - most importantly - function in an unexpected and entertaining way; not simply to be different, but to demonstrate a more effective alternative to the norm.

03

Expression

Interactivity became the key opportunity to do this. As a result, a 3D, interactive homepage was designed which allowed us to build a world that expressed the campaign message through experience. Inspired by the tonally-resonant TV series ‘Severance’, the experience served as a hub to explore ‘The Cost of Dull’ and Lunar Agency, whilst establishing an atmosphere that was equal parts plain and eerie. The page was designed to frame ‘boring’ as something to be afraid of, with Lunar’s unique sense of creativity positioned as the exciting - yet financially-safe - escape.

Supported by a reimagined article format and further conceptually aligned interactive moments, the site was designed to reward curiosity - becoming a living, breathing, expression of both the brand and campaign strategies.
